Where To Find Inspiration.

Inspiration can be found everywhere! You must have heard that line a million times. When you have everywhere to look that gives you way to many options. I'll share some of the ways I find inspiration for my artwork. Not to brag but people say I have a lot of good ideas. 😉
Nature
Woah now nature is a broad subject! Break it down though, you can focus on animals, plants, locations, or weather. What helps me when I'm feeling stumped is to go into my backyard and look around for something that catches my eye. I drew the frogs, slugs, and worms after weeks of rain. I heard the frogs singing like crazy every day and night. My plants were being eaten by slugs. The worms were slithering all over our driveway. The sage drawing was when the sage just started blooming in my yard. Don't have a garden go to the park or a local trail. Other great places are botanical gardens, zoos, conservatories, garden centers, beaches, lakes, or a new town, Just pic a place to explore and bring your camera, sketchbook, or notebook.
Start Collecting

Find something you like and start collecting it. I grab little bits of nature here and there to surround myself with inspiration. My studio is filled with barks, leaves, nuts, shells, feathers and rocks. If you are not a fan of clutter in your home collect virtually. Make a Pinterest board of something and collect photo inspiration. If you can't see past my nature influence here are some things people are crazy about that could be a collection virtually or not. Desserts, cooking, candy, sports, history, travel, makeup, shoes, clothes, art supplies, paint samples, keys, fabric, paper, stamps, stickers, pins, jewelry, rocks, and books. Transform What You Have

Think outside the box! Really think outside the paper and how to make things different. My butterfly painting where I created 9 butterflies on one sheet I transformed into individual stickers. It gave each one a new life and a different way for someone to purchase them who wouldn't room for more art but might like to scrapbook or journal. Make a mind map and map out each way you could change your idea into something different like a sculpture, a pin, a sticker, a notebook, shred it and glue it into an abstract.
Instagram and Pinterest
For quick inspiration look no further than the two best places on the internet Instagram and Pinterest. Endless photos to inspire you and you won't have to leave your home. Now, don't get sucked into sitting there and scrolling forever and then getting down that you aren't as awesome at thinking of all these things you keep seeing. Set a timer for 10 minutes and find what you can to inspire you. Screenshot them on your phone/computer or pin them and use what you found in those 10 minutes to create something. Don't copy but be inspired by. Design Seeds is great for color inspiration. Remix you could paint some other dog dressed up fancy in some amazing sunglasses. There is so much to be inspired by! These few ideas should get you going. Leave a comment below with other places you find inspiration.
