A Much Needed Break

The holiday orders of pet portraits are over. While I still have other projects to complete I need some time to do some personal work and get ideas that I have down on paper.

Animals are still my number one subject I like to create. I'm looking to work on landscapes which I still struggle with. I'd like to play with gouache because I miss being able to layer lights on dark which watercolor does not allow. Gold accents are still in my head along with geometrics. Trying to find a pleasant way to combine animals, golds, plants or geometrics is a balancing act.

I'm struggling with making my ideas into sketches of actual pieces. The new moleskin sketchbook I just purchased has captured my attention. There are many times I create a sketch and wish I had made it into a bigger final work. Sure I can transfer or blow it up but it's just not as fun to me to recreate something I already created.
